Customising Ameol
The Scheduler

< Previous  |  Next >

Ameol allows you to schedule a number of different actions to happen at a pre-determined time or at regular intervals. This means that you can perform time-consuming tasks at a time that suits you, or connect to a particular service when you'd rather be doing something else.

To set up an action to be scheduled, go to the Settings menu and select Scheduler. You will see a list of any commands that have already been scheduled. This list also gives details about the timing of a scheduler item, including the last time it was started and the next time that it will be run.

To add a new scheduler item, click the Add button. A list of Ameol actions that can be scheduled will be shown along with options for scheduling the action. Actions that can be scheduled include blinks, commands that can be applied to blinks, folder checking and purges.

Choose the action that you'd like scheduled from the list and then choose a time interval from the list of options to the right of the list. At the bottom of the dialogue, you should specify the additional information required based on the time interval that you have selected. For instance, if you chose to run the selected option hourly you should specify at how many minutes past the hour the action should be run. If you chose to run the action once you should specify the time, day, month and year. If the action that you chose to run was a check, purge or list update then you'll also need to specify the folder to which this action should be applied.

When you have finished setting up your new scheduler item, click the OK button.

You will see your new item added to the scheduler list, along with the first time that it will be run.

If you wish to stop a scheduled item from being executed, select it from the list and click the Disable button. The time that this item was next scheduled to be run will be marked 'Disabled'.

Note: The scheduler has a time accuracy to the nearest minute, so if you scheduled an item to be run at 16.45 it will be run between 16.45 and 16.46.
