Reading messages When there are unread messages in a topic you will see two numbers separated by a '/' or fraction. The fraction showing unread messages over total messages in the In Basket window will appear in red. When there are no unread messages, this fraction is shown in black. To read the messages in a topic, double-click on the topic name and the message window will open displaying the contents of that topic. A number of symbols are displayed next to each of the messages in the top right section of the message window. Next to each of the messages displayed in the top right section of the message window, a number of symbols are displayed. A folder symbol shows that this message is an 'original' message, i.e. the first message in a 'thread' of messages. Responses to this original message are shown on a thread line leading from the original message. This thread can be collapsed and re-opened by double-clicking on the folder symbol. Next to each message there may be other symbols. A page symbol shows that you have the full message in your message base. This symbol never appears next to an email message or a Conference message. It will appear next to a newsgroup message if you've collected the full article. A mailbox symbol next to a message means that you have not yet read that message. To mark the current message as having been read and move on to the next unread message, you can either press the RETURN key or press Ctrl + N. These actions will remove the mailbox symbol and take you to the next unread message, even if it's in another topic. If you want to stop when you reach the end of the current topic, use the SPACEBAR instead of the RETURN key. The Word Wrap option allows you to view messages with extremely long text lines without the need to use the horizontal scroll bars to enable this, just go to the View menu and select the Word Wrap option.
