To set the options for how Ameol connects to your online services and to set up 'blinks' to perform certain tasks, go to the Settings menu and select Communications. The 'Communications' dialogue box is divided into two or three tab pages - Blinks, Connections and DUN. You will not see the DUN page if you're using Windows 3.1. To get more help on any of the options that appear in these pages, use the Ameol help file and search for the name of the option. Blinks Ameol allows you to set up any number of custom blinks which will perform certain tasks. For instance, suppose you have some email messages to send but you don't want to spend time downloading newsgroup articles. Rather than having to reconfigure Ameol to not download articles from newsgroups, you can use the 'Mail Only' custom blink. Custom blinks are also useful for using different connection cards, since you can specify which type of connection to use for each custom blink. The Blinks tab page shows a list of the blinks that have already been established.. If you want to set up a new custom blink, click the New button. You will be
asked to provide a To edit a blink, select it from the list and click the Edit button. You will see the 'Properties for…' dialogue once more and can adjust the blink settings. You can also set a one-off custom blink by choosing the Custom command from the
Connect sub-menu in the File Menu. The options that you set using this blink
will only be used for the current blink and will not be saved.
